OM Ship's Mission in Ghana Ends after Delivering Special Christmas

Operation Mobilisation's (OM) ship ministry MV LOGOS II closed its Christmas mission trip in Ghana, Africa on 5th January. It has successfully made a difference to Christmas for the Ghanese people.

Arriving on Christmas Eve, 80 staff of MV LOGOS II landed in a rural area in Ghana called "SOS village". They were warmly welcomed by the local people with colourful traditional customs. Mission teams from the ship celebrated Christmas by performing Christmas stories.

The sunny and hot weather in Ghana didn’t really match with the atmosphere of the Christmas season, however, the mission teams sang Christmas carols and it has been very remarkable for all people.

"It was a strange feeling to sing songs about snow and Christmas in that steamy weather," shared one crewmember. "But it was neat for us to be able to share with them."

A MV LOGOS II youth conference was held. Michel Nikiema, an AIDS lecturer from Burkina Faso, was invited as keynote speaker. Nikiema preached about young characters in the Bible such as Joseph, Daniel and Ruth who made radical decisions of faith. Through these stories, he challenged the youth to take three steps - to make sure their faith was personal; to live out their faith with God’s help every day; and to live pure lives as an example to others.

After the victory of the two-week mission trip, MV LOGOS II is currently heading to Port Harcourt, Nigeria. It is expected to arrive on 6th January and will leave on 24th January.

OM ships have been serving the nations since 1970. Over the past thirty years the vessels have visited ports in over 140 countries in the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific. Now the headquarter office of the ships is in Mosbach, Germany.

The ships project promotes international understanding and worldwide education. Through cultural exchange programmes, community service initiatives and a floating book fair, it encourages all who come aboard to expand their horizons and embark on a voyage of discovery.
