During the midseason finale, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) was joined by her family and friends on a trip to the Underworld to follow and rescue Hook (Colin O'Donoghue).

In an interview with TVLine, creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis talked about what to look forward to when the series returns after the winter hiatus.

According to Kitsis, the upcoming episode titled, "Souls of the Departed," will feature a lot of "emotional closure" between the Storybrooke residents and the people who have already departed. Horowitz added that "there certainly are old friends and old enemies from the past who return in a new form, it's about how the past of many of our core characters have held them back or prevented them from finding the place that they want to be in their lives."

Kitsis also told Entertainment Weekly that the midseason premiere of "Once Upon a Time" season 5 will tie the loose ends between the different characters of the show throughout the previous seasons of the series. "We have to wonder if we can't help them find their happy endings even in the afterlife," Kitsis revealed.

One of the relationships that will be mended in the upcoming episode of the series will be between Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) and her mother Cora (Barbara Hershey).

"They're really happy to see each other and experience what their relationship could have been with Cora having her heart back," Parilla revealed.

The latest teaser for the upcoming episode shows the introduction Hades (Greg Germann) in the series. He has a very deep connection with one of the characters of the show.

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 episode 12 airs on Sunday, March 6, on ABC.
