"Once Upon a Time" season 5 will premiere quite soon, and it will touch upon a subject that hasn't been approached very often on television. According to a report from TVLine, season 5 will indeed feature a same-sex relationship although there is no concrete indication on which characters will be involved.

Executive producer Eddy Kitsis explained that they acknowledge that a big portion of their fanbase comes from the LGBT crowd and that they want a story in season 5 to reflect this. Executive producer Adam Horowitz echoed the sentiment although he did not reveal which of their characters would be in this relationship.

"It is something we're going to do this year," Kitsis confirmed.

While they did not reveal who would be in the same-sex relationship, the report speculates that there is a high chance it may involve Mulan (Jamie Chung), as previous seasons revealed she had a secret crush on Princess Aurora/ Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Bolger).

Mulan was last seen leaving alongside Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and his Merry Men after the dismay of learning that Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip (Julian Morris) were expecting a baby. Mulan will return this season 5, increasing the chances of her being in a new relationship.

However, as pointed out in a report from E! News, season 5 will also introduce a lot of new characters as the setting shifts off to Camelot. This means that while Mulan may be the one to get into a relationship, there is also the possibility that the producers could be referring to entirely new characters.

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 is currently scheduled to premiere this Sept. 27 with the first episode titled "Dark Swan," foreboding the change that Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) has undergone during the season 4 finale where she sacrificed herself to save her friends, eventually turning to the dark side.
