'Once Upon a Time' season 5B: Teri Reeves joins the cast as Dorothy
A new and older Dorothy will be appearing on "Once Upon a Time" when the show returns for the second half of season 5.
According to TVLine, Teri Reeves has been cast in a recurring role as Kansas native Dorothy Gale. The character was previously played by Matreya Scarrwener back in season 3.
The website reports that Dorothy will be returning to Oz to save the city from the most wicked of witches—Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West (Rebecca Mader). It can be recalled that in the Dec. 6 midseason finale, Regina (Lana Parilla) sent Zelena back to Oz, where she will be facing off against an older Dorothy when the show returns to ABC.
While the two battle it out in Oz, the second half of the season will also see the other characters as they look for Hook (Colin O' Donoghue) in the Underworld. During the shocking winter finale, Hook decided to sacrifice himself to save the residents of Storybrooke, and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) was forced to stab him with Excalibur.
At once, Emma was restored to her old self as the Darkness finally left her. Determined to get the love of her life back, Emma, along with Rumple (Robert Carlyle), Mary (Ginnifer Goodwin), David (Josh Dallas), Regina, and Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) headed on a rescue mission to the Underworld.
Co-creator Adam Horowitz previously told The Hollywood Reporter some details about the Underworld, explaining that it isn't hell.
"It's a place for people with unfinished business, so it's not about good or evil," he said.
The show recently released a new promo which gave a first look at the new setting, and it looks very much like Storybrooke, with a strange twist.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Parilla said that the Underworld is almost identical to the characters' home but things don't look exactly the same.
"It reminds me of when Marty Mcfly goes back to his old neighborhood, it's just different and torn down, there's graffiti everywhere. Storybrooke doesn't look the same at all," Parilla said.
"Once Upon a Time" returns on March 6 on ABC.
