"Once Upon a Time" is getting closer to reveal the story behind Emma's (Jennifer Morrison) transition to the dark side and the events that involved Merlin (Elliot Knight).

Back in episode 5 titled "Dreamcatcher," the wizard finally saw his freedom, but fans still need to see more story from Camelot and Storybrooke unfold and that story continued in the sixth episode "The Bear and the Bow."

The episode featured the story of Merida (Amy Manson) when she was found locked in a dungeon in Camelot with Lancelot (Sinqua Walls).

The heroes Charming (Josh Dallas), Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), and Belle (Emilie de Ravin) together with Merlin helped the two prisoners escape from the magic-bound prisons.

However, Merida was hesitant to leave because Arthur (Liam Garrigan) has the wisps she needed to rescue her family and going after it would only bring more trouble, as warned by the wizard.

But the brave princess devised a different plan enlisting Belle's help. They were faced with many hurdles, with magic almost involved, but Merida was able to rescue her brothers successfully all by her own courage.

Meanwhile, in the present day Storybrooke, Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) was able to escape from being tied using the chipped cup to cut himself loose.

Merida was close behind and was controlled by the Dark One to target Mr. Gold's true love, Belle.

The three had an encounter that eventually led to Gold and Belle bringing Merida to the Dark One.

Gold decided that he will pull the Excalibur from the stone if the Dark One gives Merida back her heart.

The sword was pulled but Gold warns the Dark One that it was a "terrible mistake" for making him do so.

In the final scenes, Charming and the rest of the heroes managed to get a message from Merlin saying that someone named Nimue, which will be the title for episode 7, will be the one to help the Dark One return to her old self.

However, this message from the wizard was cut short by the presence of the Dark One.

Nimue is associated with the legend of the Lady of the Lake and the show is expected to feature more of the Camelot mythology, as noted in CarterMatt.

"Once Upon a Time" airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
