HTC has just officially unveiled a new addition to its flagship lineups. According to observers, the One X9 is a step higher than its predecessor, the One A9. However, with the two flagships released just months apart, and with both having mid-range specs, how would HTC fans know which one to go for?

Design and build

When the One A9 was launched, the iteration caused some issues in the community, with the One A9 looking like an iPhone clone. Indeed, some observers have said that when checking out the iteration, it looked like users were holding an iPhone 6s.

Meanwhile, the One X9 retained the signature all-metal build of HTC lineups. However, according to India Today, the new flagship still resembles an iPhone in some parts. Design-wise, one thing that the new One X9 lacked (and a plus point for the One A9) is a fingerprint scanner. The new flagship also looks bigger than the previous iteration, having a 5.5-inch IPS LCD compared to the One A9's slightly smaller 5.0-inch AMOLED display. The larger build profile also makes the One X9 heavier at 170 grams (against 143 grams of the One A9).

Under the hood

In terms of performance and speed, both iterations pack mid-range specs. The new One X9 is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 chipset with 3 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the previous One A9 launched with a Snapdragon 617 processor, also partnered with a 3-GB RAM. Both flagships have 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 2 TB via microSD support.

Features

Although the One X9 launched without the One A9's fingerprint sensor, HTC's new flagship iteration makes up for the absence in other areas. In Gadget 360's side-by-side comparison, the new HTC iteration carries dual-SIM support (with both SIMs having 4G and LTE options) as well as a higher battery capacity at 3,000 mAh.

Meanwhile, both flagships carry the same camera assembly, having a 13-MP main shooter on the back with dual-flash LED and BSI features.
