The OnePlus 2 64 GB has been made available for European and North American markets since Aug. 11; however, these have only been available via special invites. The cheaper but just as powerful 16 GB model is expected to release later this month, just in time for the Christmas shopping spree.

According to a post from BGR, the 16 GB model with 3 GB RAM will come at a $329 tag price and is expected to follow suit in terms of availability, meaning it initially was only available via invites before becoming widely available to the mass public.

That being said, the 64 GB model, which is priced at $389, has yet to release in several countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. It is highly speculated by phone afficionados that both the 64 GB and 16 GB model will release in these areas simultaneously during their December launch.

According to a report from the Verge, the phone has now been available invite-free since Dec. 5. However, the OnePlus X's invite-free period was not permanent and only lasted from Dec. 5 to 7. According to the report, the company is taking risks to advance themselves forward by removing the invitation system.

However, according to Android Pit it is possible to get the phones even without an invite, although purchasing the phone this way will cost extra. It is not explained if these are phones purchased second-hand and if these devices have already devoid their warranties, although it is still an option for those who do not want to go through the hassle of the invitation system.

The OnePlus 2 will be the signature phone from the company, although they have also announced the OnePlus X, for the year of 2016. It runs on the latest version of OxygenOS, which utilizes Android 5.1 as its back-end, and it features a fingerprint scanner for optimal security and safety. Up to five fingerprints can be stored for the device to recognize.
