OnePlus phones have received a good reputation for being a decent mobile device that is reasonably priced. The OnePlus 2 is set to be released in the United States on Aug. 11 but the invite-only system seems to be getting in the way of some people who want to buy the phone.

But OnePlus recently announced that they are auctioning off OnePlus 2 invites for a good cause.

Invites to buy the phone are now offered on eBay. As stated in the official blog of OnePlus, the company had already put up 50 invites on their official eBay shop as of Aug. 5, and 50 more will be distributed on Aug. 6.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Tap Project, an initiative from United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) which has a goal of providing children from developing nations access to clean water.

The auction will welcome bidders until Aug. 9 and according to PhoneArena, the bid has started with as low as $41, while some can reach up to $1,000.

The official blog post stated that the invites will give a person the chance to buy the 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus 2 and winners should receive the invites via email on Aug. 10.

Winners will only have a week to claim the invite won at the auction and 30 days to buy the device.

According to OnePlus, the reason why it is putting up invites for auction is that it sees a lot of users selling their invites to third-party websites.

This is not illegal in any way, but as stated in the post, it is not "very fair to our fans or in the spirit of what we're trying to create."

By setting up an auction, fans can get hold of an official invite from the company itself and it's also for a good cause.
