OnePlus 2 release date: Device launching on July 27, 2015

The OnePlus 2 will officially be revealed on July 27. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer confirmed the date of the much-talked about virtual reality launch, which features a new kind of technology that will allow viewers feel as if they are beside the team and the next Flagship Killer.

Headlining the OnePlus2's confirmed specs will be 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, something that will deliver twice the performance of the previous LPDDR3 RAM.

Despite the expected increase in bandwidth, the RAM bump will use a lower operating voltage. The company added that the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor would maximize the 4GB of RAM, raising the expectations of buyers seeking a fast and efficient handset.

But perhaps the most important feature of the OnePlus 2 is its price. According to OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, the device will retail for $450. Other features include a full-metal body, a type C-USB port and that it will be smaller than the OnePlus One.

Regarding the overheating issue associated with the Snapdragon 810 SoC processor, OnePlus said this had been addressed and should not become a concern for buyers.

Other specs that have yet to be confirmed but will more likely be present include a 5.5-inch display, a 3,300 mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner which is reportedly better and faster than Apple's patented Touch ID sensor.
