OnePlus 2 vs. LG G4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S6 comparison: Which handset really is the 'flagship killer'?

Is OnePlus 2 worthy of such title?OnePlus/Facebook

OnePlus 2 is almost here and for those who have been indecisive about getting the so-called "2016 flagship killer," a showdown with two of the most revered flagships around, the LG G4 and the Samsung Galaxy S6, should help in determining if the device really deserves such designation.

The OnePlus flagship will pack a newer version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor to avoid overheating problems. The Samsung offering is powered by an Exynos 7420 processor, whose power earned it the reputation of being the best premium handset available.

The LG G4 is lagging behind this battle as the device has the Snapdragon 808 SoC, a unit a generation old than that in the OnePlus 2. Its 3GB RAM also doesn't help it outshine the other two. However, the Galaxy S6 loses to OnePlus 2 in this aspect. The former also has 3GB while the latter has 4GB.

In a Geekbench test, it was shown that the OnePlus 2 will come in a 64GB storage option apart from a 16GB variant that was leaked in a video as well. LG G4 only has a 32GB model available while the Samsung Galaxy S6 has the most variants, with 128GB as its biggest space to offer.

On the display front, it is just too tough too call. While all come in Quad HD resolution, the Galaxy S6 is the smallest at only 5.1 inches rocking the crispest pixel density shooting at 577ppi. The LG G4 measures 5.5 inches with 535ppi.

OnePlus 2 is expected to share the same screen size with the LG flagship but will only render 534ppi, the lowest in the bunch. The OnePlus device is in the last place in the imaging throwdown, with a 13MP rear camera (that captures 4K videos) and a 5MP selfie camera combo.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4 both have 16MP primary shooters. The former has 5MP snapper on the front too while the latter wins the selfie crowd with a lovely 8MP front-facing camera. It is worth noting that the OnePlus photos compared to shots taken by the Galaxy S6 proves the former is on par despite the lesser megapixels.

All three devices have fingerprint sensors but reviews are more gracious to the one on the Samsung flagship. It remains to be seen if the OnePlus 2 will outstrip its rival on this one. It won't be a long wait for that as the device is already releasing tomorrow, July 28 in a special Virtual Reality event.
