OnePlus 3 release date news: Next edition to drop the invites?

Part of the mystique of a new OnePlus flagship is that the company controls its release via an invite-only system for launches and subsequent purchases. However, it seems that the company will be doing away with the system for the launch of its next flagship, the OnePlus 3.

When OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei teased the upcoming flagship some months back, he revealed that the launch will let fans enjoy a "better buying process." While the co-founder did not directly confirm it, fans expect that OnePlus will do away with the invites-only system that was the only option for would-be buyers when the OnePlus One and Two were launched.

Just recently, Pei teased fans on Twitter, asking, "Who's looking forward to invites making a comeback?"

The OnePlus management is building up the hype for the OnePlus 3. Just recently, company CEO Pete Lau also took to the social networking site Weibo and announced that the new flagship "feels good to hold" in the user's hand. This statement fuels rumors that the new OnePlus 3 sports an all-new design and has deviated in its form and build from its predecessors. According to speculations and supposed leaks of the flagship, the OnePlus 3 will have an all-metal chassis and a sleeker, slimmer build.

Meanwhile, although OnePlus has yet to confirm the internals of the upcoming flagship, it can be expected that the OnePlus 3 will be another "flagship killer," featuring top tier specs but priced much more reasonably than flagship competitors in the same specs range. Speculations suggest that the OnePlus 3 will have a base model with Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM plus 32GB onboard storage. There will also be a more premium model for the flagship, sporting the same Snapdragon chipset but will be paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
