Last December, Carl Pei, the global director and co-founder of startup smartphone maker OnePlus, confirmed that the OnePlus Two handset will be released in 2015. Pei, however, did not divulge any other detail regarding hardware specifications, price or the release date of the successor the OnePlus One, dubbed as the flagship killer.

Rumors indicate that the OnePlus Two will possess a smaller form factor compared to its predecessor. As for the hardware specifications, a Snapdragon 805 processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM are expected to be present in the device. Since the OnePlus Two will overtake the OnePlus One in a variety of ways, one feature that the company plans on assimilating to the OnePlus Two is an expandable storage slot.

In addition to the OnePlus Two, the company will also be launching another smartphone this year. After being interviewed by PC World, Pei has confirmed that the smartphone that will be released besides the OnePlus Two will cater to a whole new audience. While that was the only detail the executive provided in the interview, it can be speculated that the other smartphone will be targeted toward consumers who prefer aesthetics over improved hardware specifications.

OnePlus was not expecting a proliferation of success as far as the OnePlus One's sales performance is concerned. The company was not expected to manufacture more than 50,000 units, but due to spikes in demand, it has recorded a sales figure that is close to one million units, thanks to its aggressive pricing strategy. Even now, consumers are finding it difficult to secure for themselves a OnePlus One handset due to the disparity occurring between supply and demand.

The retail price of the OnePlus One is $299 for the 16 GB model, and $349 for the 64 GB variant. OnePlus will no doubt be looking to adopt the same price for its upcoming flagship device as well as its other new smartphone if it wants history to repeat itself regarding the company's immediate success.
