OnePlus has taken 2016 by storm by releasing a wide variation of handsets, and recent reports indicate that the company may be working on yet another handset. This time it will be a variation of the existing OnePlus 2.

According to Tech Times, the latest OnePlus creation will be a smaller version of the OnePlus 2 and people are calling it the OnePlus 2 mini. However, there is no assurance that that will be the actual name. The reports come from a posting that appeared on the benchmarking website Geekbench, and the specs that are listed offer some promising power and performance to users.

The features and specs listed for the OnePlus mini seem to match the OnePlus 2 in many ways. The handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor and Adreno 430 GPU, and will have 64 GB of internal memory and 4 GB of RAM. The major notable difference will be the screen size, which is rumoured to measure about 4.6-inch 1080p screen, which places the size right within the range of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s (both measuring 4.6 inches as well).

OnePlus is placing in a 13-megapixel rear shooter and 5-megapixel front-facing camera into the handset. The mini version will not have an SD card slot, and also no NFC capabilities, which the OnePlus 2 does not come with either.

The listing also indicates that the smartphone will launch with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop but that is seen to change depending on when the handset will be launched as more and more OEMs are releasing OTA updates for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware.

A smartphone leak appearing on a benchmarking site usually indicates that the handset model will be coming very soon. OnePlus has not yet commented on the report, nor on a listing for when the smartphone will be launched. It is more likely that an announcement may be made by next year.
