OnePlus has been notorious for using the invite-only method which makes it pretty hard for interested buyers to get hold of their mobile device.

While the company did take out that "invite only" scheme for the OnePlus 2 which began last Dec. 5, it remains to be seen if the company will keep it that way and until when.

At the time that OnePlus announced the temporary lifting of the "invite only," the OnePlus X was also covered but only until Dec. 7. Beyond that, folks have had a one-shot opportunity per week to get one without needing an invite.

With that said, OnePlus will also be offering another variant of the OnePlus X, a limited edition piece called the OnePlus X Ceramic.

Being a limited edition, this could be one device worth getting but unfortunately, it doesn't look like the device will be open for purchase just to anyone. As before, the OnePlus X Ceramic will require an invite to get a chance to get it.

Do take note that this has to be an invite specifically made for the OnePlus X Ceramic. This means that an invite to an ordinary OnePlus X will not be honored.

The OnePlusX Ceramic version will not be made available worldwide and only 10,000 units will be made available. The only regions where the special edition of the OnePlus X will be made available are Europe and select parts of Asia, including India and Hong Kong.

The only difference for this special edition piece is the zirconia ceramic which is made up of sand coming from Australia. Other than that, all specs are practically the same as the default model.

For the benefit of those who are unaware, the OnePlus X features a 5-inch AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD, 13-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, a 2,525 mAh battery and something that runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Oxyggen OS.
