Fresh from unveiling its latest "premium smartphone killer," OnePlus 2, Chinese company OnePlus is rumored to be outing a new flagship device.

According to industry follower The Verge, a document filing from the American Federal Communications Commission (FCC) details a OnePlus application for model E1005. In the document, the upcoming OnePlus device is listed as having a 5.5-inch dimension and metal edges. At first glance, it closely resembles the iPhone 4 in terms of tapered corners. In addition, the report also lists the device as having LTE, GPS, WiFi, FM, and Bluetooth connectivity. It also carries a 1.9 GHz processor.

Meanwhile, GSMArena has a more detailed description of the device courtesy of TENAA, the Chinese organization that's behind mobile certification processes in China.

The website even mentions a name for the new OnePlus offering – the OnePlus Mini or OnePlus X. In the report, the new smartphone is seen with much detail, based on images of its front and back. Viewed from the front, the OnePlus X has the same features as that of the OnePlus 2 – capacitive touch buttons on the lower front and a notification switch on the left side of the device.

In addition to the images, TENAA also lists some of the upcoming smartphone's specs, with the upcoming OnePlus unit having a 5-inch touchscreen plus a 2450-mAh battery. Although it is not indicated, industry observers surmise that fans may expect the device to also come out running on Oxygen OS, OnePlus' Android-based hybrid platform.

Meanwhile, while it is not confirmed in the images, it is also expected that the upcoming device will feature a USB Type-C port, much like the OnePlus 2. Having this connectivity will make the smartphone have a thinner and slimmer build. OnePlus just announced that it will have a new stand-alone USB Type-C cable as a product.
