Operation Mobilisation anticipates thousands of young Christians will attend its weeklong discipleship events as it prepares for five TeenStreets this year.

In the 20 years since it was founded, TeenStreet has spread to five continents, reaching young Christians with creative Bible studies, small group discussions, interactive workshops and worship.

This year, TeenStreet will be held in Uruguay, Brazil, Germany, South Africa, Malaysia and Australia. It is currently exploring several additional cities for future TeenStreets.

Although the weeklong event is adapted to fit the local context, its overall aim is to help young Christians have a friendship with Jesus and reflect him in their lives when they return home.

Allister Fugill, who coordinates the international TeenStreet programme, said he was excited about the opportunities God was giving to expand to new places.

“The needs and challenges that teens in Asia face are very different to Europe,” he said. “We cannot just export a package with the hope that it might have some value.

“But through locally-led TeenStreet initiatives and in partnership with the church in those places, we have seen young people grow in their faith to become the next generation of youth workers and church leaders.”

TeenStreet is one of the most popular Christian youth events in Europe. Last year’s TeenStreet in Offenburg, Germany, attracted 3,000 Christians from across the continent.
