'Orange Is The New Black' season 3 spoilers: New key art invokes religion

Netflix

Netflix just released a new intriguing (not to mention pious) art for "Orange Is The New Black," teasing the glorious return of the much-loved web series in June in possibly the 'holiest' way possible.

The key art invokes the spirit of sanctity and faith as five candles with images of the Litchfield inmates plastered on each, with Piper particularly looking angelic on hers. The candles are clear representations of the characters on them, with elements that define their lives integrated on the design.

Piper's is embedded with an image of a ring, which symbolizes her broken engagement. Daya's wrapper on the candle was decorated with a prosthetic leg, which signifies her secret lover. At the bottom is a baby bottle, indicating that her baby formed within a forbidden relationship is on the way.

Meanwhile, Alex's candle is festooned with red roses, a heart symbol and a $100 bill. The one for Crazy Eyes, which features a theatrical masks and different colored roses are believed to be references to her enemy, Vee, who keeps fans wondering if she is alive or dead. Lastly, "Orange Is The New Black" embellished Red's candle with the iconic chicken.

The religious theme of the key art, which even has the tagline "The Third Coming," is one "Orange Is The New Black" creator Jenji Kohan wanted to infuse in the series. Laverne Cox herself (who plays Sophie) in the series, dished this out to E! News.

"Jenji was really interested in faith and what we believe in as a theme for this third season, so there's a lot of that permeates," Cox revealed. The actress then teased about what her character may be up to in Litchfield, saying "Sophia may or may not get in some major conflict with another prisoner."

"Orange Is The New Black" season 3 will premiere on Jun. 12. The series was already picked up for season 4.
