In a developing story, a student at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Oregon opened fire at about 8 a.m. this morning, and the armed suspect was killed around 9:20 a.m.

Parents were told by police at 9 a.m. that the shooting began inside a gym class. At least one teacher and a student were shot, and one person is reported dead.

Oregon State Police told CNN that there was only one shooter, although Oregon Live reported that police initially thought there were three shooters involved. SWAT, FBI, Oregon State Police, and Multnomah County Sheriff's officers descended upon the campus, and the suspect was neutralized about one hour after the shooting began.

It is unclear how many people were injured, and whether the suspect committed suicide or was killed by police. It is also unclear if the suspect was killed inside the school or off school grounds. Oregon Live reported that an armed suspect was located at a church close to the Troutdale campus.

Reynolds High School freshman Daniel DeLong was still in a state of shock after exiting the school.

"I'm a little shaken up," he told the Associated Press. "I'm just worried."

He reported seeing a physical education teacher whose shirt was covered in blood.

"It just, like, happened so fast, you know?" he said.

Freshman Morgan Rose was relieved that the frightening situation is over.

"It was scary in the moment. Now, knowing everything's OK, I'm better," she said.

Reynolds School District Superintendent Linda Florence told the Associated Press that today was a nightmare come true – "one that I had hoped would never, ever be part of my experience."

Reynolds High School has over 2,800 students. Parents were asked to reunite with their children in the Wood Village Fred Meyer parking lot.
