By the end of "The Originals" season 2, Klaus appeared to be Elijah's and Hayley's real enemy as both now have to suffer the consequences of his recklessness. The hybrid, in his defense, said that he had to do such to ultimately defeat Dahlia. Elijah, however, isn't convinced. Still, season 3 of the series is looking to huddle these three back together to deal with a surprise baddie — Davina.

Talking to TV Line, "The Originals" executive producer Michael Narducci revealed that the fledgling witch will be New Orleans' newest and biggest nightmare. 

"The spirits are going to have access to Davina. They're going to lend her their power and communicate with her about what's best for the people and witches of New Orleans," Narducci said.

He added, "And the Mikaelsons, some would argue, are not the best things in the world for the witches. That's going to put them at odds, assuming there's no larger threat coming for which they might have to unite against. There are a lot of different ways this could play out." 

Should Davina respond to the calling, the young witch will have the Mikaelsons eliminated to fulfill her newfound responsibility of keeping New Orleans safe. The showrunner, however, underscored that this could only happen if a much bigger menace won't start wreaking havoc in the area. 

Meanwhile, the writers' room is back in session, with "The Originals" creator Julie Plec tweeting that work has now begun for the new season of the series as well as that of "The Vampire Diaries" and the new The CW show titled "Containment."

"The Originals" season 3 will be back in fall.
