The trailer for "The Originals" season 3 has just been released and one thing it puts great emphasis on is the fearsome fact that Klaus is not one to trifle with. In the clip, the Mikaelson is seething and spitting mad as he declares, "I am the thing that men fear."

After this ominous introduction, the clip goes down to business — the brewing warfare between Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah and their own progenies, who fans will see in full evil mode this season. As showrunner Michael Narducci told The Hollywood Reporter, "This is definitely the season about the sire lines."

He said that season 3 will take fans back to the early days and show the very first instance someone was transformed into a vampire. Harking back also means showcasing the life of the Mikaelson siblings after Esther turned them and Klaus killed his mom.

Narducci further explained, "In the present, we will see the return of some of these faces, and what their feelings are today — knowing full well if an Original vampire dies, the entire sire line dies. And what their point of view of that might be."

From the looks of it, season 3 will feature a new round of action, thrill and bloodshed. In the same trailer, Freya predicts the outcome of the upcoming confrontation. "You will all fall," she declares. Whether or not she gets this one right remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Hypable has reported that Claire Holt could finally come back in the series as Rebekah. In the recent episodes, Maisie Richardson-Sellers portrayed the character after Rebekah's brother Kol threw his sister's soul into the body of a wicked witch named Eva Sinclair.

Holt posted a mysterious image on both her Instagram and Twitter accounts. She did not directly hint her return via the said image but her bloody hand that was made to be the center of attention in the photo seems to be subtly giving it away. Narducci retweeting the photo says a lot, too.

If Holt returns, Hypable predicts it will happen in the fifth or sixth episode of "The Originals" season 3, which will premiere on Oct. 9.
