'Orphan Black' season 3 spoilers: Tatiana Maslany praises show and the characters she portrays

Orphan Black season 3 premiere date announced by BBC.Facebook/OrphanBlackTV

"Orphan Black" star Tatiana Maslany praised the multiple characters that she portrays and the show she stars in.

Maslany won the 2014 Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her groundbreaking performance in the show. In an interview, she talked about how she juggles the different roles she plays in the show.

She said that the script and the challenge of playing a myriad of characters made her say yes to the role.  She plays the main character, Sarah Manning, as well as her multiple clones, including Elizabeth Childs, Alison Hendrix, Cosima Niehaus, among others. Maslany said that the writing was so compelling and each character is very original and develops well.

One of the highlights of Maslany's characters is the use of varying accents, which stretches Maslany's acting capabilities. She admitted that speaking with a London accent was the most difficult thing to do. She added that her clone Rachel is quite difficult to play because her posture is impeccable and wearing high heels is painful.

Tatiana Maslany also applauded the fact that her role (or roles) exist. She is grateful to be part of a show that does not objectify the women or where the lead actress has to shed off her clothes or be sexy to attract viewers and ratings.  She hopes that women playing lead roles that are complex, difficult and weird will make it to mainstream television.

Meanwhile, the filming of the next season just started. The renewal of the show for another season by BBC is not surprising after the successful run of the first and second seasons. The series proved to be one of the most successful TV shows and has garnered various international awards.

According to reports, the new series will have 10 episodes and will come back on air in the spring of 2015. Tatiana Maslany will reprise her role as the main character and her multiple clones.
