The 87th Academy Awards is all set to take place this Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 where critics have whittled down the winners in certain categories. Leading the pack is of course the best picture bet which seems be down to two films: "Boyhood" and "Birdman".

Though there are eight films expected to vie for the Best Picture niche, but "Birdman" seems to be a favorite at this point thanks to previous awards that the film has already garnered.

But that doesn't mean that other films will be overlooked. Aside from Birdman, other films in the list include "Boyhood," "American Sniper," "Selma," "Whiplash," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "The Imitation Game" and "The Theory of Everything."

Other than "Birdman," "Boyhood" and "American Sniper" have a good chance as well of being named as the top film.

But the Best Film is not solely the one in focus come Sunday. There are other awards as well such as Best Actor, Best Actress and support acting categories.

For best Actor, the favorites are Michael Keaton (Birdman), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) and Ed Redmayne (The Theory of Everyting). Of the three however, Keaton may have the inside track owing to the fact that his name has been around and familiar. But Cooper could pull off a surprise as well for the controversial film American Sniper which was directed by Clint Eastwood.

Julianne Moore (Still Alice) could be the runaway winner for the Best Actress niche while Patricia Arquette (Boyhood), Meryl Streep (Into the Woods), Laura Dern (Wild) and Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game) are expected to mix it up for this award.

Neil Patrick Harris will host this year's event and coverage for the 87th Academy Awards will start at 8.30 p.m. ET and will be aired live on ABC. A live stream of the awards event will be available to watch here.
