The most recent casting news for "Outlander" season 2 reveals that one of the well-loved characters in Diana Gabaldon's book series on which the show is based will find their way to the small screen soon. But this has raised questions and speculations on how the character's appearance will affect the TV show's current timeline.

TV Line exclusively revealed that the groundbreaking Starz TV series is looking for an actress who meets the requirements for the role of Brianna Randall, the biological daughter of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Frazier (Sam Heughan).

The character is described as a 20-something, 5-foot-8-inch or taller American female who is "strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparkling sense of humor (traits inherited from both her mother and father). She also has a scholastic mindset, with a healthy dose of American strength, having been born and bred in Boston under the watchful eye of professor and historian Frank Randall." Briana is also seen as a down-to-earth and simple youthful woman.

Those who read the books know that Briana was first introduced in the second book titled "Dragonfly in Amber," where she first appeared during the 1960s. It means that her participation in the current storyline would be unexpected since her mother is still stuck with her real father in 18th century Scotland. Around this time, Claire is still pregnant with her.

The casting call mentioned that Brianna will follow Claire in the past to look for the father that she never met, and the family that she never knew she had.

However, "Outlander" readers know that Brianna's journey to the past will only happen in the fourth book titled "Drums of Autumn." This makes the possible timeline for "Outlander" season 2 a bit confusing.

While Starz have yet to reveal their plans about Brianna's introduction in the upcoming season of "Outlander," an article posted on Zap2it speculates that the casting call for the character will be used for the show's future and not something that will be featured in the soon-to-be released season 2.

Other speculations, on the other hand, believe that the TV adaptation of the series will deviate from the plot of the books to accommodate Brianna.
