Jamie will replace his kilts while Claire will don more colorful costumes in "Outlander" season 2.

Starz's costume designer Terry Dresbach shared several images that showcase the new set of wardrobes that lead stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will wear as Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall when "Outlander" season 2 premieres this spring.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Dresbach explained why the production had to use more expensive costumes to dress up Jamie and Claire in the second season of the show.

"We started thinking about it halfway through season 1. It's a completely different kind of clothing," Dresbach said. "In Scotland, there is not a ton of research out there about what they wore. It was a rough place. But France [in the 18th century] was one of the most well-documented periods of fashion in the world, so you better get it right."

Dresbach also revealed that the costume design team managed to create more than 10,000 items and purchased over 5,000 pairs of shoes for this season alone.

The costume designer also discussed the costumes that they made for the upcoming season and how they acquired the fabrics of the dresses.

Meanwhile, Heughan recently thanked the fans of the show for helping them achieve the Radio Times TV Show Champion of 2015 award right before Christmas. The Scottish actor thanked the viewers of the show for what he considered as a "huge Christmas present" for the rest of the cast.

He also dedicated the award to each member of the cast and crew of the show who worked really hard during all types of weather condition.

Heughan also shared an update regarding the status of the second season production.

"Season 2 is almost complete, #Droughtlander is almost over! Thanks again to out extended Clan of Outlander Fans, we make it for them," Heughan said, according to Radio Times.

Starz is expected to reveal the official release date of "Outlander" season 2 soon.
