The first official trailer for "Outlander" season 2 has arrived. Season 1 ended with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) sailing off to France with the surprise announcement that Claire was indeed pregnant. As stated in a report from E! Online, a lot of events have occured between the season 1 finale and season 2 premiere.

The trailer starts off showing the two arriving in France via ship and Claire immediately reminds Jamie that they have to keep fighting in order to stop the Jacobite rebellion in France and save Scotland. There may be a moment of tension between the two as Claire is heard reminding Jamie of what is really at stake.

It is hinted that Jamie might have a different plan of action. However, given that Claire is from the future, she is seen forcing the truth despite the difficulty of being pregnant.

As for Claire's pregnancy, she is seen to be several months ahead and may even be close to giving labor. Fans of the novels by Diana Gabaldon will be well aware, however, of her child's fate and what the consequences of her child's future will do for Claire and Jamie's attempts to save Scotland.

"Let's talk about the future," Claire is heard stating, "and how we're going to change it."

Claire's statement is speculated to be derived from her knowledge of Jamie's fate in the Jacobite uprising and how the series of events will play out for Scotland.

According to a report from TVLine, the trailer also showcases just how aesthetically different the second season will be compared to season 1. Gone are the muddy forests and rundown homes of Scotland, which have now been replaced with lavish mansions and royal courts.

There are several scenes held in the French court and there is also a quick shot of gunfire on the road at night.

"Outlander" season 2 will air in 2016, although no specific release date has yet been released.
