'Outlander' season 2 spoilers: Preparing 18th-century France outfits a 'monumental task,' says designer Terry Dresbach
Fans are on the edge of their seats for "Outlander" season 2 and even though there is still several months' worth of waiting, the show's home network Starz whets fans appetite with promotional photos here and there. The latest one sees Jamie and Claire sporting a new set of wardrobe.
The couple needs to fit into the era if they want their travel to the past productive. In order to make this happen, a wardrobe change is definitely in order and designer Terry Dresbach is very much willing to oblige despite this being a "monumental task."
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the outfits stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will wear in "Outlander 2," Dresbach said, "Everything has to be sumptuous and lavish and every inch is beaded and embroidered."
"We figured out recently that we've made over 10,000 items for season 2 and acquired another 5,000 shoes," calling the upcoming season "massive," at least in terms of the work they had in preparing the setting and appearances of the characters alone.
"Outlander" season 2 is taking the action and the drama to France. In terms of fashion and style, Dresbach's team knows that the place and the era they will take viewers to is "one of the most well-documented periods of fashion in the world" so there's the pressure of nailing every bit of detail in bringing the period to life.
When the time-travel drama returns, Jamie and Claire will be in a whole new setting. In a bid to stop the Jacobite Rebellion, the pair heads all the way back to the 18th-century France. Balfe stated that the way of life of the people there will "drive[s] Claire mad."
Meanwhile, Heughan has already said that filming for the new season is almost complete in time for its expected spring 2016 release. He also thanked fans for helping the show win the Radio Times TV Show Champion for 2015.
