After confirming that they have already filmed the last scenes for the upcoming installment of "Outlander," Sam Heughan has revealed that there will be a lot of big changes happening when the series returns on Starz for season 2.

"It's certainly a whole new show. it's split into two halves and the first half is certainly going to be a new world that Jamie and Claire are in," Heughan revealed in his interview with Entertainment Weekly after posing for the publication's sexy cover.

The actor also revealed that the relationship between his character Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe's Claire Randall will intensify after the painful event that happened in season 1.

Balfe reiterated Heughan's statement in the same interview, saying: "Last season you very much saw Claire and Jamie fall in love, and that was the story that we were telling, so you saw a lot of their first forays into that part of their relationship."

Aside from the changes in Jamie and Claire's relationship, the second season of "Outlander" will feature the couple's decision to move to France in a mission to infiltrate the Jacobite rebellion under Prince Charles Edward Stuart's (Andrew Gower) leadership and prevent the battle of Culloden from happening.

In the premiere episode of the upcoming season, the couple will be helped by Jamie's cousin Jared (Robert Cavanah) to get into the luxurious and colorful world of French society. The couple will face a lot of intrigues during their first days in the new country, but they will find themselves having difficulty getting a lot of political gains.

The premiere episode will also show that Jamie and Claire's relationship will be challenged because of the difficulty that they will face as they attempt to alter the course of history.

"Outlander" season 2 premieres in the U.S. on April 9, while U.K. fans will get to see the series on Amazon Prime on April 10.
