Starz has finally announced a premiere date for season 2 of "Outlander" and released a new trailer for the upcoming season.

The clip starts with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) walking down the hall of a mansion, and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) kinsman, Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) looks up from writing. The camera pans to the paper on the table revealing the years 1918 to 1945 written on it.

"You've lived through all these years," Murtagh says, now aware of Claire's secret. "You know when things will happen."

"Yes," Claire admits.

"I wouldn't want to bear that burden," he says.

Later, Jamie asks her to promise that they will always find a way back to each other.

"I promise," Claire says.

Claire places her hands on her midsection, now rounded with their first child. Meanwhile, Jamie prepares for war as the Jacobite rebels plot against the English soldiers.

Later, Claire tells Murtagh that she knows when the uprising begins, and Murtagh says that she knows when it ends then, and it doesn't end well.

"No. Unless we stop it from happening all together," she replies.

Jamie gathers his men, and he is seen leading them to fight against the English at Culloden Moor. The clip ends with Claire back in her own time on a hospital bed, looking devastated as she pines for Jamie.

"I'm back," she tells her first husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies).

Based on the second book of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" novels titled "Dragonfly in Amber," the new season will see Claire and Jamie in 18th-century Paris as they mingle with the aristocrats and French royalty while looking for Bonnie Prince Charles in hopes of stopping the Jacobite rebellion and preventing the killings at Culloden Moor.

Season 2, which will be composed of 13 episodes, will see the debut of the couple's daughter, Brianna, played by Sophie Skelton. She is joined by fellow newcomer Richard Rankin, who plays Roger, the man who eventually becomes Brianna's husband.

"Outlander" season 2 premieres on April 9 at 9 p.m. on Starz.
