'Outlander' Season 2 cast, plot news: Frances de la Tour is Mother Hildegarde

Executive Producer Ron Moore is slowly unveiling the new additions to the cast of "Outlander" season 2.Starz

Frances de la Tour, who played the Beauxbatons headmistress/half-giantess in the "Harry Potter" films, is the newest addition to the cast of the upcoming "Outlander" Season 2.

Starz announced that the Tony-winning actress will play Mother Hildegarde, the compelling Mother Superior of Paris' L'Hopital des Anges, according to TV Line. This is the hospital where Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is seen spending a significant amount of time in Diana Gabaldon's novel "Dragon in Amber" on which Season 2 is based.

De la Tour will be joining other new cast members that include Stanley Weber as Le Comte St. Germain, Robert Cavanah as Jared Fraser and Dominique PiƱon as Master Raymond. Other new additions to the growing "Outlander" family are Rosie Day, Margaux Chatelier, Marc Duret, Laurence Dobiesz and Claire Sermonne.

When asked who will play Brianna and Roger, two important characters in the season, Executive Producer Ron Moore said the roles have yet to be cast.

"It's an ongoing process. We have started shooting but we're not shooting those scenes yet, because you cross-board everything aggressively, so we have time, and it's going to take a little while," Moore told E! News.

The producer also said the second season would feel dramatically different than the first since Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) would be travelling to Paris and joining the Jacobite rebellion.

In an interview with TV Line, Moore said the two would be dealing with the French aristocracy.

"So you're already in a completely different planet than where we were with Season 1. Scotland is about heavy stone, rough wood, dark tabletops, smoke and candlelit rooms, and now you're in a world of gilt, fine China, glassware and costumes that are made of silks and bright colors."

Moore, Heughan and Balfe will be presenting at Comic-Con, along with author Gabaldon, and are expected to take questions from fans about the coming season.

Outlander Season 2 is expected to premiere in the first half of 2016.
