The wait for the new episodes of "Outlander" for season 3 might still take a long while, but fans of the series will be given a special treat this week.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that a new book from Tara Bennett, titled "The Making of Outlander," will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The new book will feature a compilation of behind-the-scene images taken during the first two seasons of Starz's popular sci-fi period series based on Diana Gabaldon's best-selling novels. Gabaldon herself reportedly wrote the introduction for the upcoming book.

Aside from the behind-the-scene photos, executive producer Maril Davis also mentioned that the book will feature how the show is built. "Most fans do want to know how the sausage is made, they're interested in the filmmaking process," Davis told Entertainment Weekly. "People don't really understand the steps we take."

Meanwhile, the third season of "Outlander" will introduce the grown-up version of some of the past characters of the series.

One of them includes the adorable Fergus, who was adopted by Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from a French brothel in season 2. The young Fergus was portrayed by Romann Berrux, but the character's older version will be portrayed by French actor César Domboy in season 3.

The teenage British soldier Lord John William Grey will also have an older version in the third season of "Outlander." In season 2, the young Lord John William Grey portrayed by Oscar Kennedy was tricked by Jamie and Claire to divulge the information about the whereabouts of the British army. But in the upcoming season, the character will be portrayed by David Berry as he becomes the governor of an abandoned prison located in Northern Scotland.

The new season of "Outlander" will also introduce a new character named Marsali. She is one of the daughters of Laoghaire (Nell Hudson), the woman who was deeply in love with Jamie. The character will be portrayed by Lauren Lyle.

Starz will release the premiere episode of "Outlander" season 3 in 2017.
