After the complicated battle scenes featured in the sophomore season of "Outlander," the producer of the show revealed that season 3 will be a lot "easier."

In an interview with ET Online, producer Maril Davis said that the writers of the series had a challenging time working on season 2. But they will not have the same ordeal in Diana Gabaldon's third book "Voyager," after which the events of season 3 will be patterned.

"This second book was definitely a challenge for us, and Voyager for us is kind of like a homecoming. The stories lay out so much easier -- we see what they are, we see what the conflicts are and the dramatic moments," Davis stated.

However, she also admitted that they could also face several production challenges for the second half of season 3 when they start filming on ships.

"They go to Jamaica, there's stuff that happens on ships, and the production challenges of that will also test our abilities, but I would say so far I'm really excited about what we're doing and coming up with," she added.

Meanwhile, executive producer Ronald D. Moore addressed speculations about the possible appearance of an adult Lord John Grey when "Outlander" returns for season 3.

In season 2, Grey was the British teenager who attempted to attack Jamie (Sam Heughan) and his men, but Jamie decided to spare his life. The character was portrayed by Oscar Kennedy. Grey returned to Jamie's life 20 years later in "Voyager," which is why fans are asking if he will also return in the series.

But Moore revealed that they are still considering whether the character will be added in the third season.

"John Grey is in the third book, so we're kind of taking our cues from what is actually in the third book at this point," he told TVLine. "We're not averse to it. We just aren't really bringing in the other novels at this point."

Production for "Outlander" season 3 is scheduled to begin at the end of the year, and the series is expected to air on Starz sometime in 2017.
