The cast and crew of "Outlander" season 3 are entering the third week of the filming and executive producer and writer Matthew B. Roberts is already loving what they got so far.

He took to Twitter to tease that it is an excellent beginning to what he described as an "exciting, rip-roaring, [and] emotionally-charged" new season of the hit Starz drama.

"Outlander" season 3 will see Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) far away in space and time as the former was left in the past. They will be reunited, but not before they discover who they are outside of their relationship.

The new season will be based on Diana Gabaldon's third book in the series – "Voyager." This novel introduces an older Lord John Grey, who will be played in the small screen by David Berry.

As per reports, his casting is met with a bit of dismay as some believe that the actor does not accurately resemble the character he is set to play.

In the literary counterpart of "Outlander," Lord John Grey is a famous character. While he is part of Gabaldon's original series, his popularity warranted him a series of his own.

With the character dear to the hearts of many, it can be understood why they want a version of him "Outlander" season 3 as accurate as possible.

However, as fans know, the series tends to stray from its source material sometimes, something that they do not hide. This might just be one of those tweaks.

It all goes down to Berry's performance as Lord John Grey and if he will be able to capture the essence of the beloved character.

In "Voyager," the character was the governor of Ardsmuir Prison, where Jamie was held. He develops romantic interest for Jamie, but he did reciprocate them.

"Outlander" season 3 is expected to premiere next year on Starz.
