"Outlander" season 4 teaser was already released, although season 3 just ended last month. This excites fans of the series who are looking forward to what will happen between Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) after all the challenges they encountered.

The teaser video for the upcoming season reveals that the pair will explore America. The 20-second video promises a "new land" and a "new journey." In the season 3 finale, the two reunited with their nephew Ian before boarding a ship. Due to a heavy storm, they went overboard and got washed up in Georgia.

The clip also shows the lovers talking about what will happen to them in America. This means that the fourth season will be set in America. However, it will still feature some scenes in Scotland since this is their roots.

In an interview with Deadline, executive producer Ronald D. Moore said that the new setting of the series shifts the whole foundation of the show. He also added that the show will always have a foot in Scotland and it will not completely abandon Lallybroch and Inverness.

Moore also added that they are looking into bringing back Frank Randall played by Tobias Menzies. He could appear in a flashback or in other kinds of sequences. Although the writers already planned about featuring Frank, it is not yet finalized, and things might still change.

"Outlander" season 4 will be based on Diana Gabaldon's "Drums of Autumn." However, Moore said that there are departures from the book and some storylines are told in a different way. Some events are also sequenced in a different manner from the novel. But readers of the book can still recognize the story and its characters. Moore said that the general shape of season 4 is still the same as that of "Drums of Autumn."

"Outlander" season 4 will return in 2018 on Starz.
