Fans now have a reason to celebrate as Sony TV co-president Chris Parnell revealed that he is in early talks for the making of "Outlander" season 5. Although the Starz television series is currently airing its third season and its fourth installment is still filming, it looks like it will be renewed soon.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Parnell told Outlander Live! that for them to avoid the Droughtlander, they should gear up for the fifth season as early as now. "I can tell you there are early talks on us doing that ... That's the goal," he said.

He also assured fans that they are going to completely adapt the whole story of Diana Gabaldon's novel series. The "Outlander" book series now has eight installments. In fact, its tale is expected to continue as the 65-year-old author has a planned ninth chapter.

Parnell explained that they want to deliver the historical multi-genre novels' story all the way through just like how Gabaldon wants to finish it. He also added that they are going to follow all her leads in telling Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) story.

Currently, "Outlander" season 3 still has two episodes left, titled "The Bakra" and "Eye of the Storm," before it comes to an end. As the current story is based on Gabaldon's third novel, titled "Voyager," and the fourth installment will be based on "Drums of Autumn," the planned fifth chapter would be based on the fifth book called "The Fiery Cross."

Parnell strongly believes that the show's home network, Starz, also wants to continue telling its historical time-travel drama series. Thus, a fifth season renewal could soon be announced. "The worst thing that can happen is if we ended this prematurely," he said.

"Outlander" season 3 airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. on Starz, while "Outlander" season 4 is expected to be released in 2018.
