"Outlander" season 2 is currently in production but there are already murmurs that the hit Starz series is getting a third season. In fact, for executive producer Ron Moore, the historical drama is very much entitled to a renewal.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Moore said that he is "very hopeful" about the show going beyond a sophomore run. "We're talking about doing a third season now and I'm pretty sure we're going to get it," Moore said during the interview (via Scotland Now).

"I'll be shocked if we don't but you never know until you actually do it," he went on to say. Needless to say, season 3 is yet to be set in stone. But fans of the series can take comfort in the fact that they will likely get more of Jamie and Claire.

The "Outlander" season 2 production is moving along. The crew has built their sets in Scotland, where majority of the shoot will take place. The country is the setting of the new season, where Jamie and Claire's daughter Brianna is said to finally appear.

The new episodes of the series will be based on author Diana Gabaldon's second book in the "Outlander" series, "Dragonfly in Amber." Auditions for the role of the character described as "strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparking sense of humor" have apparently been held.

Clips from the screening made their way to the web showing the auditionees deliver lines in scenes familiar to fans of the books. These included Brianna and Jamie's chat about his ruse to get away from British soldiers and Brianna talking to Claire about landing in a timeline where the latter is still carrying her in her womb.

It is being said that one of these aspirants will take on the role soon. Fans will get to know which one when "Outlander" season 2 premieres spring next year.
