In any case, the gameplay is still the same--the player is equipped by a video camera that runs on batteries that drain when the nightvision functionality is used. However, while its predecessor's setting is in a stereotypical insane asylum with murderous inmates and staff, "Outlast 2", within the demo, has taken the player off in different localities, which includes a seemingly abandoned rural village, an abandoned modern high school with poltergeist activity, and finally, a corn field where crazed villagers have pitchforks and other improvised weapons drawn and ready to murder the player once caught.

With all these, a lot of players actually consider "Outlast 2" as one of the top horror games in 2016, and a lot of reaction videos for the demo gameplay footage can be seen in YouTube. The palpable terror these people feel is just but a testament to the game's effectiveness in playing with the people's fears, regardless of whatever it may be.
