'Outlast 2' release date, news: New trailers launched before game's release date

"Outlast 2" to arrive as single-player campaignFacebook/OutLastSeries

Prior to the launch of "Outlast 2" this week, Red Barrels released two new trailers for the upcoming first-person survival sequel.

The first trailer is meant to promote the main "Outlast 2" game, while the other one is released for the game's retail bundle that will be called "Outlast Trinity."

Reports reveal that "Outlast 2" will still be a single-player campaign just like its predecessors "Outlast," which was first released in 2013, and "Outlast: Whistleblower" DLC, which came out in the following year.

Players of the upcoming game will have to take on the role of the cameraman-journalist named Blake Langermann, who will go on an adventure in the Arizona desert with his wife Lynn to investigate the murder of a pregnant woman who goes by the name Jane Doe. But the couple will find themselves separated after their helicopter crashes. This will prompt Blake to search for his wife in the middle of a village where a sect that believes that dooms day is about to come resides.

On the other hand, the "Outlast Trinity" bundle will come with the new "Outlast 2" game, together with the video game franchise's first two installments. The upcoming bundle will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The distributor's partnership with Red Barrels was announced by the company in March.

"Red Barrels has made a name for itself in the survival horror genre with the original 'Outlast' game," Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Senior Vice President of Sales in the Americas Kevin Kebodeaux states. "We look forward to working closely with this great group of developers to bring 'Outlast Trinity' to gamers around the world."

On the other hand, Red Barrels co-founder Philippe Morin shares: "We've been lucky to have such an amazing fan base, and none of this would have been possible without their support. "Ever since we released 'Outlast' in 2013, a physical version has been one of the top requests, so we're obviously thrilled to finally give people the entire series in one bundle of terror."

"Outlast 2" is scheduled to be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Tuesday, April 25.
