"Overwatch" has been one of the most popular shooter games this year, and as such a lot of fans are hard at work data mining the game in order to gain insight into some of its future events.

Eager miners recently found out that a Christmas-themed event will be released soon, much to the players' delight.

According to Game Rant, while there is still no word about the "Overwatch" game's holiday-themed event, a lot of fans who have delved into the game's files have revealed that there will indeed be new content released as a means of celebrating the most festive season of the year.

After all, Blizzard is known for releasing special themed events like their Halloween Update and Summer Games mode earlier this year.

It also comes as no surprise that the game company has some plans for the game this Christmas season, and it is possible that the update will be released soon. Most fans speculate that the Christmas update will be launched within early December, and the same article reports that Reddit user Venxa has found more evidence that supports the argument.

Gamespresso also reported that the user posted audio files of what appears to be a Christmas version of the main "Overwatch" theme song.

Also, the same article reports that aside from the Christmas-themed audios, there were also several voice clips of interactions between different characters. While there is nothing out of the ordinary, there is one set of audio clips that stand out, and it features the game's announcer Athena.

Athena was heard saying phrases like "now entering the arena," "gladiator," and "challenger." It is possible that a new mode will come with the Christmas event, since these terms have never been used in the game before. However, without any official announcements from Blizzard, players can only speculate for the time being.
