After the release of the trailer for "Pacific Rim Uprising," the production staff of the mecha movie and the guys at Legendary Pictures are discussing about a possible crossover between their universes.

Director Steven S. DeKnight, whose works include season 1 of "Daredevil," said that after the sequel, the franchise is looking on a number of ways to expand its story. One possible way is crossing over to the universe of Godzilla and King Kong.

In the first trailer of the sequel, fans saw that the kaiju, giant monsters, are still pretty much a threat to humanity. This is a hint signaling to fans and even the production staff that a movie with Godzilla, King Kong, and the Jaegers would be a natural next step for all three movie franchises.

DeKinght answered the question posed to the staff back at the New York Comic Con, "I won't say there's an Easter Egg but there's been a lot of discussion about that possibility of crossing over. And part of the big overall plan after the third movie we've talked about is that could happen, it's always a possibility." The director also added that as a fan himself, he would love to see the crossover to happen, even though everything is still at a theoretical phase.

While the crossover will be a fan service to the highest levels, discussing the possibility would remain as such since the sequel is not out yet and there will be a follow-up third movie. With Legendary Pictures slowly building their monster universe with the future release of "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" and "Godzilla vs. Kong," Jaegers taking on these two titans will be something fans will want to look forward to.

"Pacific Rim Uprising" is set to release on March 23, 2018 starring John Boyega and Jing Tian.
