Did the mother of the defendant in the celebrated Patrick Kane sexual assault case make up the alleged tampered rape kit that was found at her home?

The latest word on the said tampering claims is reportedly an elaborate hoax by the mother of the accuser, based on the recent report coming from the Chicago Tribune.

The development comes in the light of the sudden withdrawal of legal representative Atty. Thomas Eoannou, who retracted his statements made after word of the tampered evidence row involving the Chicago Blackhawks player came out last week.

What made it more controversial is his withdrawal, saying that he no longer believed the account provided by the mother.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III gave a detailed timeline tied up to the celebrated rape kit. As it turns out, the bag was given to the accuser's mother when she accompanied her daughter to a local hospital for the rape kit tests last Aug. 2. Moreover, she was the last known person to have the bag.

Further strengthening his claims was a surveillance footage which showed as well the kit being put in a box and not a bag.

"The evidence in the case wasn't tampered with nor was it compromised," Sedita said.

While no charges may be filed against the mother since the claims were done via a private lawyer and not the authorities, this development bears into mind a possible move to make up for an earlier development that showed no deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) traces of Kane with the defendant.

With these turn of events, it remains to be seen what comes out of the issues hounding the Blackhawks winger moving forward. Sedita even suggests that the case could be closed administratively, which will likely mean that the case is not bound to reach a grand jury representation.
