"Penny Dreadful" season 3 officially ended the series and it has been rumored ever since its cancellation that a spin-off, which might still be titled "Penny Dreadful" season 4 if not given a new title, might be in the works. According to a report from Ecumenical News, the spin-off or unlikely fourth season may find a new home on Netflix.

The report reveals that a petition has been launched on Change.org to convince Netflix to pick up the show and that the show should continue or at least start a spin-off that would continue the stories of some of the side characters given that Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) died during the season 3 finale.

More importantly, the petition has garnered a lot of signatures. As of the time of writing it has already amassed well over 12,000 signatures and is nearing its 15,000 signature goal. However, it is uncertain if this petition will even be considered when the executives take a moment to decide whether or not "Penny Dreadful" will be given a fourth season.

It was previously reported that the series creator had willingly designed the ending in order to give all of the characters, including Vanessa Ives, some form of closure which means it would be unlikely that any of them appear as main characters in a spin-off. Instead, a brand new cast might be brought in if a spin-off was ever green lit.

The petition also plays upon the notion that Netflix would save the series given that it has brought back other shows already considered canceled. Most recently Netflix has brought a revival of shows such as "Arrested Development," "Longmire" and now "Gilmore Girls."

Showtime and the series creator have yet to address the posibility of the series moving to a new home such as Netflix and Netflix has yet to announce whether or not the streaming network is even interested in picking it up, regardless of the success of the petition.
