A megachurch pastor is asking his flock to join an experimental tithing challenge which guarantees a refund to anyone who does not receive God's blessing within 90 days.

This deal may sound like an advertisement from a home shopping network, but the NewSpring Church led by Pastor Perry Noble is serious as it sets out to prove that the Lord will bring blessings to those who puts Him first.

"Because we believe what the Bible says about tithing, we commit to you that if you tithe for three months and God doesn't hold true to His promises of blessings (Malachi 3:10), we will refund 100% of your tithe. No questions asked," the description on the site read.

The church has even provided an online sign up sheet for the tithing challenge on their homepage.

For those who wish to take the challenge, they will be required to fill out a registration sheet from the link provided on the website where they will provide details about themselves like their campus, name, phone number, email address, physical address and zip code.

The registration form also encourages challenge to share about themselves anything that the church may need to know about them.

But why is tithing important?

In an article by Tommy Holt, tithing, which is devoting a tenth of one's income to the local church, is a sign that the faithful prioritises God over material things.

"The idea of bringing the first 10 percent of our income to the Church seems overwhelming. The thing is, it doesn't matter how much or how little we make, God promises to pour out blessings on us when we tithe. Tithing is about training our heart to trust God at His Word.When we bring our first and best back to God, He promises to bless the rest," he said.
