The final season of "Person of Interest" will be very explosive, based on the trailer for the premiere episode of season 5.

The fifth and final season of "Person of Interest" premieres on CBS on Tuesday, May 3. It will center on Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch's (Michael Emerson) quest to save The Machine before it becomes completely destroyed.

The official synopsis for the episode titled "B.S.O.D." reads:

"Reese and Finch will do whatever they have to in order to resuscitate what's left of the Machine's source code before it deteriorates beyond repair. Meanwhile, Root (Amy Acker) and Fusco (Kevin Chapman) will encounter their own obstacles as Root fights for her life against Samaritan's agents and Fusco answers difficult questions about Dominic (Winston Duke) and Elias' (Enrico Colantoni) deaths."

In an interview with TVLine, co-showrunner Greg Plageman revealed that the upcoming season 5 will pick up immediately after the events of the previous season.

"We pick it up in real time," Plageman explained during the celebration of the series' 100th episode. "Our guys are under duress, The Machine is in a suitcase and it just becomes a fight for survival at that point."

The premiere episode will be followed by a twice-a-week run beginning Monday, May 9, with the episode titled "SNAFU." Both Reese and Fusco will have a big problem in this episode, since the broken Machine will mistakenly mark a lot of people as criminals. On the other hand, Finch and Root will also be labeled as threats because of the glitch in the Machine's system.

Co-showrunner Jonah Nolan also revealed that viewers should look forward to all the challenges that Reese and the group have to face. "Samaritan is not an easy adversary to defeat," Nolan said. "But this is definitely a season where our guys are getting fed up with getting their asses handed to them. We're gonna switch it up a bit!"
