In the next episode of "Person of Interest" season 5, Reese and the crew are headed to Washington, D.C. to save the life of none other than the president of the United States.

The trailer for "Person of Interest" season 5, episode 11 sees the team race against the clock to keep the president out of harm's way. It will be extra difficult to protect him because he will be making a speech in front of a crowd.

The "Person of Interest" season 5 promo suggests that the perpetrator will strike at the time the team deems unlikely. The clip shows a car explode. Whether or not the POTUS is there, fans will have to wait until next week to know.

Another reason to worry about the head of state's safety is the fact that Finch decides to be left behind to "[consider] taking drastic action to combat Samaritan, as the synopsis for "Person of Interest" season 5, episode 11 puts it.

In the previous episode of the series, which marked the 100th hour of "Person of Interest," Finch's real identity was revealed to the enemies, raising the stakes far higher than they have ever been.

The said episode also saw the heartbreaking death of Root. "Given the gravity of the loss that we knew was coming, we had to earn it. And I think, it was extremely exciting," co-showrunner Greg Plageman told TV Line.

"We always wanted to explore another side of Michael Emerson's character, when he had finally had enough, and it felt like a big episode, emotionally for our characters, and it felt like a major turn for one of our main characters," he added.

"Person of Interest" season 5 is three episodes away from its conclusion. However, CBS will no longer air two episodes per week. For these final episodes, they will be aired in a span off three weeks.

"Person of Interest" season 5, episode 11 "Synecdoche" airs June 7 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
