"Person of Interest" last aired its season 4 episode in May, which makes fan cravings for a new episode and a new season understandable. While it does not really take a CIA operative to deduce that season 5 might air in September, fans want to know exactly which date the first episode will drop.

"Person of Interest" has always dropped new seasons in September, which makes September 2016 a possible release date for season 5. But fans are eagerly awaiting an exact release date, fearing that without it, the show might still face cancellation.

Season 4 almost became its final season — executive producer Jonathan Nolan even told The Hollywood Reporter in July that they approached the last season as if to wrap up the whole series.

But season 5 is indeed happening, with a renewal officially announced shortly after the last episode of season 4 aired. There have been previous talks that season 5 will break the release cycle and come out during winter rather than the usual summer release.

However, Crossmap says CBS wants "POI" to have better chances at the ratings game and might retain the original release cycle. The leak of the episode titles also makes the fifth season so much more a reality. The same online publication reveals the following as possible titles of the season 5 episodes:

  • Episode 1: B. S. O. D.
  • Episode 2: SNAFU
  • Episode 3: Truth Be Told
  • Episode 4: ShotSeeker
  • Episode 7: 6,741
  • Episode 10: The Day the World Went Away
  • Episode 11: Synecdoche
  • Episode 12: .exe
  • Episode 13: Return 0

The list is only missing four more episode titles, which may mean that "Person of Interest" is now down to 13 episodes from the usual 22 to 23 episodes of the previous seasons.

Movie News Guide adds that there have already been several leaks of the cast and crew on set, making the release of another season real for most fans. The source says there have been numerous Instagram posts from fans that showcase the show filming at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Stay tuned for more news on "Person of Interest" season 5.
