Atlus will unveil "Persona 5" in an upcoming Sony press event in Japan early next month, if the rumors turn out to be true.

The sixth installment in the "Persona" role-playing game taken from the "Megumi Tensei" franchise will allegedly be unveiled during the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia press conference in September. Design & Trend posted a report saying that the vital information regarding the game's release details will be dropped during the said event, based on the post spotted on the official PlayStation Japan website.

"Persona 5" was first announced alongside several "Persona" spin-off titles like "Persona 4: Dancing All Night," "Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth," and the PlayStation 3 reboot of "Persona 4 Arena Ultimax" back in 2013. It will center on the protagonist's adventures after he transfers to Tokyo's Shujin High School. He will stay with some family friends, and will embark on exciting heists and adventures with two other students as well as a talking, shape-shifting cat.

Players need to take over the role of the protagonist, who is capable of summoning different aspects of his personality, which is also known as Personas. For the upcoming game, new elements will be added such as the ability to jump across gaps or dash while going under cover.

The game was initially scheduled to be released for PlayStation 3 during the winter season of 2014, but an announcement during last year's Sony's SCEJA Press Conference revealed that the release date has been changed to include a PlayStation 4 version sometime in late 2015.

Aside from the release date, another "Persona 5" trailer is expected to be displayed during the upcoming Sony Computer Entertainment's event next month. However, it is still unconfirmed if Altus will also unveil the game's release date in North American and European countries during the Tokyo event.

Sony's SCEJA Press Conference is scheduled on Sept. 15.
