"Persona 5," the upcoming role-playing video game from Atlus, is highly anticipated to hit PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 this coming summer for its Japanese fans. The game's director, Katsura Hashino, shared some wonderful news about its characters and more.

Hashino took some time off from his busy schedule and offered "Persona" fans some bits of information about their beloved game's upcoming installment. Hashino was featured in the March 2016 issue of Persona Magazine and he discussed several things, including the characters' backgrounds.

Generally speaking, the main characters are all high school students in Tokyo who can no longer take the corruption in the environment they are living in, as it is governed by corrupt adults. A group of friends form "Phantom Thieves of Hearts" with their "Persona" and try to steal the corrupt hearts of people working in the government.

Gematsu helped translate the content of a Japanese website.

Ryuji Sakamoto is the most influential person in the game, greatly responsible for the formation of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. His ultimate goal is to reform the society that sees him unacceptable for his taste. He is known as Captain Kid and influential to The Phantom's character.

Ann Takamaki aka Carmen is a blonde teenager and is a mix of American and Japanese blood. She returned to Japan after spending her early teens in another country. She does not have many friends but eventually meets Ryuji and The Phantom.

Morgana aka Zorro is a talking cat and is similar to Teddie in "Persona 4." Morgana is responsible for training the Phantom Thieves.

Yusuke Kitagawa aka Goemon is a very artistic and intelligent student; however, nothing was indicated on what he is in the group.

The "Persona" game series is a big hit in its Asian homeland, but as players from other parts of the world, especially in North America, took notice of the game back in 2006, they now can't get enough of it. North America is also expecting a 2016 release, but as to the exact time frame, nobody can say yet.
