The Philadelphia 76ers have the resources with Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor at the front, but somehow the team is still in its woeful state.

Of course, two players (who play almost the same position) cannot create a difference so the problem could be from the coaching brain thrust.

Now, this of course doesn't mean that Brett Brown is headed out. In fact, he was just signed up to a new lease so reinforcing him could be the next best thing.

And the person whom the Sixers seem to be leaning on is former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni.

D'Antoni's name had been active in the offseason as a head coach candidate for several teams such as the Denver Nuggets. Nothing really materialized back then, although he may technically be active coaching (somewhat) again.

According to ESPN, D'Antoni is currently in discussions with the Sixers to an associate head coach for the team. His entry would make sense and, of course, beef up the top heads of the team, following Jerry Colangelo who was recently named chairman for basketball operations for the Sixers.

Further to the report, D'Antoni will have an out clause in the event that some team calls him up for a possible head coaching duty.

D'Antoni had his best years with the Phoenix Suns, but his lack of focus on defense has time and again been questioned. He believes in the up-tempo philosophy, which comes as a concern for the Sixers.

Aside from Noel and Okafor, the Sixers don't exactly have another point guard who can spark all that. But there could be one soon if the team finds a suitable playmaker in the mold of Steve Nash who made things happen with the Suns.

Could the move work? Considering the Sixers are down in the standings, injecting someone who has proven himself in the past could possibly work.
