The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to lock in quarterback Sam Bradford beyond the 2015 season, as they are reportedly negotiating for an extension deal.

Philadelphia acquired Bradford from a trade deal with the St. Louis Rams last March in exchange for starting quarterback Nick Foles, a 2015 fourth-round pick, and a 2016 second-round pick.

Bradford was drafted by the Rams No. 1 overall in 2010 and was with the team for five seasons; although anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries limited him to only seven games in his final two seasons, including sitting out the entire 2014 season.

In his first training camp with the Eagles, head coach Chip Kelly has decided to trust Bradford with the majority of first-team reps for the first two days of their training camp, ahead of his fellow quarterback and starting position competition Mark Sanchez.

The 27-year-old athlete is recovering from injury and was limited in offseason workouts and minicamp to avoid the risks of re-injuring his ACL.

But because of the impressive performance he is showing during camp and Kelly's search for a quarterback whom he could build a team around, the Eagles are reported to have been talking with Bradford for a new deal.

Bradford's current contract still has one year remaining and he is set to earn $12.95 million this 2015 season.

The Eagles are looking to keep Bradford even after the 2015 season; although it will be risky because of the ACL injuries he suffered in the past. 

Despite the interest of having Bradford after next season, a report by ESPN suggested that the Eagles will likely not offer a long-term contract to the 2008 Heisman Trophy winner. 

A short-term deal is favorable for both sides according to CSNPhilly.com, as Bradford gets security even after the 2015 season while the Eagles will have some steadiness in the quarterback position, something they are missing since Kelly became head coach in 2013.
