The gap between the Phoenix Suns and forward Markieff Morris is starting to grow as the fifth-year player out of Kansas was handed a two-game suspension without pay by the team for his action in Wednesday's 104–96 defeat to the Denver Nuggets. 

According to ESPN, in the fourth quarter with 9:47 on the clock and the Nuggets leading 84–75, Morris was substituted from the game. He then threw a towel at Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek, who threw back the towel at him. 

Because of what he did, Morris will be missing their next outings versus the Philadelphia 76ers this Saturday and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday; both are home games. 

In a series of tweets, the 26-year-old addressed what he did and said, "My frustration got the best of me last night. It won't happen again. I apologize to Jeff. My teammates told me I hit Coach with the towel."

Morris also stated, "In no way was that towel intended for him. I just want to help my team win so much. That's my focus moving forward. #Foe."

The former first-round pick finished the game with only six points, one rebound, and one steal in 12 minutes played. 

In the report by ESPN, Hornacek said Morris was furious because he was not playing, although he was -13 in the stat sheet that is why he was replaced. 

The Suns head coach then also said, "He thinks he's better than that. Show me."

Morris' numbers decreased this season as he is averaging 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 23.5 minutes played per contest. 

Wednesday's actions just added to the already damaged relationship between him and the Suns organization. 

During the offseason, Morris expressed his disappointment when Phoenix traded his twin brother, Marcus, to the Detroit Pistons and then asked to be traded as well, but the Suns did not grant his request.
